It is also one of the fastest-growing industries in Vietnam, with an average annual growth rate of around 30%. There are currently about 822 textile and garment enterprises nationwide, including 231 state-owned enterprises and 221 foreign-invested enterprises.

Vietnam’s textile and garment industry has the following strengths:

  • Equipment: Vietnam has around 1,050,000 spinning spindles and more than 14,000 weaving machines. There are also over 450 knitting machines and 190,000 sewing machines.
  • Labor: The textile and garment industry employs more than 1.6 million workers, accounting for more than 25% of the industrial workforce.
  • Foreign investment: There are currently around 180 projects related to yarn, weaving, dyeing, knitting, and garments that are still in effect with registered capital reaching nearly 1.85 billion USD. Of these, more than 130 projects have been put into practice, creating jobs for about 50,000 idle workers directly and thousands of workers indirectly.
